Pain Management
Pain disorders are common and complicated clinical issues that challenge both physicians and people who suffer from them. When surgery is no longer an option and medications provide minimal relief, the outcome can be frustrating for patients.
At times, the cause of pain is even unknown despite comprehensive medical investigations. Chronic pain and its impact on one’s life generate issues involving psychological, social, and spiritual levels. Integrative approaches that address body, mind and spirit are warranted clinically.
While medications, physical therapies, lifestyle modifications and nutritional supports and psychotherapies are viable components of pain control, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are especially effective. It is known that acupuncture stimulates production of endogenous endorphins and inhibits brain activities in the areas that perceive pain.
At the Tao Institute, we integrate medication, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, Osteopathic manipulative medicine, Yoga and meditation into state-of-the-art pain management practices.
Testimonials
I started acupuncture because of fairly intractable neuropathic pain, which was the after-effect of a long-term autoimmune disease. My results have been excellent after a period of visits at the Tao Institute. My pain is much reduced and most times non-existent. I have been able to resume exercising. My mental well being is vastly improved.
